What To Look For in Your Dream Venue

Searching for venue’s for any event can be overwhelming if you’re not sure where to start. Knowing what your venue can do for you is key! If you are lucky, you venue won’t just be a venue. It’ll include lots of things that helps save you time, energy, and money! Here are some things to look for when venue searching.

1. Event Staff. Having a team of people who are there to handle the behind the scenes details like restocking the toilet paper in the restrooms, taking out the trash, refilling empty drink dispensers, and cleaning up the tables when dinner is over sounds like a no brainier. Triple check with your venue to make sure they have a team who will make sure these little details are handled so your family/friends/volunteers don’t have to.

2. Setup and Tear Down. If you have never set up tables and chairs in the space you are renting before, chances are it will take you a long time to get everything exactly right. Having a team of people to handle this part of setup/tear down saves you SO much time. Some venues will even provide you with a tool where you can virtually set up the space and move things around to get the exact look you want.

3. Decorations and Other Inclusions. Sometimes venues will nickle and dime you for things like tables, chairs, and decor. Other times, these things will be included. Ask your venue what is included in the price that they charge and what you will need to purchase additionally. Sometime venues provide some awesome decor, AV system, linens, projector/screen, and more if you ask!

4. Preferred Vendors. Finding a venue is usually the first or one of the first steps of planning an event. Usually, venue’s have a handful of preferred vendors that they like to work with and know do a great job. Ask your venue about the next steps that you should take and who they would recommend for your big day.

5. Event Coordination. Event planners can be expensive. Finding a venue that can help you get organized and provide you with next steps, helpful tips, and provide discounts for other vendors can make your life so much easier. Remember, the venue works with every single vendor that is a part of your big day. Find a venue that is willing to pass along the knowledge they have gained through working with each vendor.
