Tips and Tricks on How Not to get Burned Out in the Wedding Planning Process

If you have gotten married, if you’re deep in the wedding planning process, or if you’re a seasoned wedding industry veteran, you’ve probably had your fair share of wedding planning burn out. Here are some tried and true tips on how to make it over the slump that you may be stuck in.

Spread out the planning activities

When starting to plan your wedding, everything is new and exciting. Every bride will feel the urge to plan everything immediately. This is why it’s so important to spread out the wedding planning activities. If you do six months worth of planning in three weeks your stuck for a while! It’s easy to get burned out and planning the best day of your life will start to feel like a job. If you resist the urge to do all of your planning all at once it will give you the break you need to feel excited and anticipate the next thing to come!

Research

Take your time! The more research you do, the easier the planning process will be. Whether it’s finding the best vendor to fit your needs or simply finding your wedding style, it will take so much pressure off if you know what you’re looking for. Nowadays, websites such as Zola, WeddingWire, and The Knot are all there to assist your research in the simplest way possible!

Set your budget and stick to it

Setting a budget early on will save so much of your time, energy, and livelihood. Arguing with your family or fiance about your growing budget is a great way to ruin the wedding fun. This is when the stress of your wedding could slowly creep up and leave you burned out and unenthusiastic. If you set a realistic budget early, stick to it throughout the process, and add in some wiggle room for unexpected expenses, your wedding won’t grow to overwhelm you and leave you needing a step back.

Take a step back

Its okay to need a break. When you’re feeling overwhelmed, sometimes it might be best to put the planning on the back burner for a few weeks. This doesn’t mean that you aren’t capable of planning your wedding or that you’re not excited. Sometimes it can be necessary to back up and recharge. This relieves so much pressure and can really realign your perspective on the purpose of the day.

Ask for help

Your fiance, bridal party, and family are all there for a reason! When planning your wedding it is so easy to feel alone and overwhelmed. Asking for help is not a negative thing. Your support system is there to help you in any area you may need it but they won’t know you’re struggling unless you tell them. Asking for help is the best way to get help. Whether it’s asking your bridal party to help you with the planning process or getting advice from a seasoned vendor, any and all help is an awesome way to get out of a mid-planning rut.
